What should an event content plan cover?

An event content plan covers the story before, during and after the experience. It should explain why the event matters, what the coverage needs to capture and how the team will use the finished material.

The format should follow the event’s purpose. A property discovery event, a brand launch and a creator gathering will each need a different combination of information and coverage.

Build a coverage brief around key moments

Identify the moments that cannot be repeated: arrivals, the central presentation, a reveal or important conversations. Share the schedule with the production team and decide who can confirm changes on the day.

Alongside the main moments, capture the details that explain the experience. Location, atmosphere, displays and interactions can make a recap easier to understand than a sequence of disconnected crowd shots.

Agree the outputs and turnaround

Define what is needed immediately and what can be edited later. A short update and a considered recap require different workflows.

  • Confirm the coverage hours and the people responsible on site.
  • List the required photos, video formats and edit lengths.
  • Plan interview questions and participant permissions.
  • Agree the review contact and delivery schedule.
  • Decide how attendee follow-up will connect to the wider campaign.

Report participation accurately

Registrations, attendances and unique visitors are different counts. When describing an event, state what was counted and avoid turning attendance into an implied sales result.
